COCHECTON — Cochecton Spirits, a locally owned and operated liquor store, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting on Thursday, October 28. Co-owners Ezekiel Miller and Josiah Early seek to provide the community with a selection of local craft liquor of all different makes and styles. Cochecton Spirits carries no large brand names, but favors the local flavors of Sullivan County and the surrounding areas.

Miller and Early are also co-owners of the Cochecton Fire Station just down the street, which has continued to offer take-out options in order to survive the pandemic.

“It keeps my people gainfully employed and that’s the most important thing,” Miller said.

Prior to the ceremony, Miller and Early welcomed customers and friends into Cochecton Spirits with locally made champagne.

The ceremony began shortly after and was joined by Jaime Schmeiser, CEO and President of the Chamber of Commerce of Sullivan County, who assisted in cutting the ribbon and welcomed the new establish- ment into the community of local businesses.

“I’d like to welcome you to the community, and say welcome and thank you so much for opening your business,” said Schmeiser to co-owners Miller and Early during the ceremony.

“I wish you all the best,” she said.

The ceremony concluded with applause as Cochecton Spirits was officially welcomed into the Chamber of Commerce with a certificate from President Schmeiser.

Cochecton Spirits, located at 54 County Route 114, is open seven days a week.

During the week, their hours are Mon. through Thurs., Noon to 7 p.m. and Fri. from Noon to 8 p.m.

On Sat., they are open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sun. from noon to 7 p.m.
