CALLICOON — The Sullivan County Democrat had two interns this summer, who kept a keen eye on local news and provided us with many wonderful stories.

Sean Kuhn, 28, completed his third internship with the paper.

The Rockaway, NJ native didn’t start out with an interest in journalism—first studying mechanical engineering and product design at the Rochester Institute of Technology, before earning an Associate’s Degree in Photography from County College of Morris.

A love of photography led him to pursuing journalism, first joining the Democrat as an intern in 2022.

He will go on to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism at Montclair State University this fall, with plans to graduate in December.

While he still lives in New Jersey, he spends the summer with his grandfather in Hortonville, and has many family members in the area.

Chezzy Hanofee, 21 (turning 22 this weekend), is a Liberty native who graduated from Liberty High School.

The internship this summer inspired her to add Journalism to her Marketing Master’s Degree, which she will begin this fall at Boston University.

She previously received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Syracuse University.

She also worked as a Program Assistant this summer at Sullivan 180.

Her dream job is to be a political investigative journalist or to work in marketing.

“I am so impressed by Sean and Chezzy, their articles were well written, well researched and provided meaningful information to our readers,” said Democrat Editor Isabel Braverman. “I wish them the best of luck and know they will go far."
