SULLIVAN COUNTY — In the wake of County Treasurer Nancy Buck’s retirement in December of this year, Deputy Sullivan County Treasurer Kathleen Lara announced her candidacy for the position. She will speak on her campaign Friday, January 10, at 11 a.m. at the Sullivan County Government Center.

Lara has served in the Treasurer’s Office for over a decade and has earned recognition for her commitment to governmental transparency and responsible fiscal management. Lara expressed her intention to continue building on these principles if elected to the position.
“I have been fortunate to work alongside Nancy Buck, who has been an incredible boss and mentor for over ten years,” Lara stated. “I am eager to apply my experience and knowledge to ensure the continuation of strong fiscal policies and procedures that benefit Sullivan County.”
If elected, Lara noted her aims are to “prioritize transparency, fiscal responsibility, taxpayer education, and modernizing processes within the Treasurer’s Office.”
“This campaign is an opportunity to share my vision for the office and listen to the priorities of Sullivan County residents,” she added.
