NARROWSBURG – Developers are seeking to turn the old Camp Wel-Met outside of Narrowsburg into Yeshivas Novominsk, located at 189 Blind Pond Road.
According to Town of Tusten documents from 2022, there will be 150 male students enrolled and approximately 10 staff.
The Tusten Planning Board met on Tuesday night and determined that the developer’s application was incomplete and needed to include more information before the project could move forward.
Planning Board Chair Brendan Kenny stated that the application needed information regarding water supply, wastewater treatment, management of wetlands and plans for emergency access.
Further, the project needs a coordinated New York State Environmental Quality Review Act review and potentially a full environmental review.
Attorney for the Planning Board, Ken Klein, said the developers were able to supply documentation that confirmed it fits the definition of an educational institution, and will be governed by the New York State Board of Regents.
Developers from the project were present at the meeting, and said they would work with the town to move forward in completing its application.
Camp Wel-Met was a historic, large Jewish sleep-away camp founded in 1935, primarily serving campers from the New York City area.
