The Eldred boys have secured the #1 seed in Section IX Class D and will face the Manor/Roscoe Wildcats tonight at 5pm at Mount Saint Mary College. The Yellowjackets came out on top with a close 52-51 victory that ended in a buzzer beater by Eldred’s own Koen McGill. Trai Kaufmann and James Deyermond led the charge with a combined 36 of the Yellowjackets 52 points. The duo is looking to bring the scoring output into the next round of post season play.

Eldred-51
Fallsburg- 21
The Lady Yellowjackets were sitting comfortably walking into the pit already awarded the Section IX Class D Champions. They will wait to see who their opponent will be in a cross Sections matchup.
The Lady Yellowjackets had only six players suited up against a full roster of 13 on the Lady Comets adding additional pressure to the shorthanded class D champs. Eldred was still able to snag a commanding 20-point win over the Comets. They were led in scoring by Olivia Gonzalez and Sydney Furier who combined for 31 of Eldred’s 51 points. The Lady Yellowjackets were clicking on all cylinders moving the ball and feeding it inside possession after possession, running a very effective offense.
Fallsburg boys were lead in scoring by Jeffery Evangelista who had 19 points in the game. Evangelista had an impressive third quarter stretch where he hit 4 shots in a row from deep to close a double-digit gap. It gave the Comets a chance at the end just before falling short on a last second goal ahead pocket pass by Eldred.
Teammates Donovan Hart and Nick Storm of the Comets scored 13 and 11 points respectively.
The Lady Comets were led in scoring by freshman guard Paolo Melendez Deras who netted 16 of Fallsburg’s 31 points. Paolo was assisted by Marion Sesay and Joslyn Smith who contributed 6 and 4 points for the Lady Comets respectively.
