Eugene M. “Gene” Flynn of Jeffersonville, a Photo Finish Official at the Monticello Raceway, passed away on Sunday, January 25 at the Garnett Health Medical Center in Middletown. He was 71.
The son of the late Jerome Flynn and Elizabeth Miluszusky Flynn, he was born May 1,1954 in Callicoon.
Gene was a present and loving husband, father, brother, grandpa, and friend. His love for nature, music, art, history and books shaped his life. He photographed horses for over 40 years as art that tells a story. He loved what he did. Gene was comfortable in his own skin and was never anything but himself. He carried life with a light heart and a great sense of humor, reminding everyone around him not to take things too seriously. He carried himself well and always wore a hat. He touched many and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Marian “Maureen” Flynn, two sons: Errol (Sarah) Flynn of Neuentempel, Germany, and Bryan (Chelsea) Flynn of Narrowsburg; six grandchildren: Cole, Margaret, Ophelia, Sheena, Myles and Savannah; his siblings: Arthur (Sandy) Flynn, John (Kim) Flynn, Robert (Linda) Flynn, Cynthia (Robert) Theadore, William (Mary) Flynn, and Mary (Eric) Gruner; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Thomas (Patricia) Flynn.
