Frederick G. Robinson, 88, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026 at his home in Monticello surrounded by his family.

Fred was a lifelong resident of the Town of Thompson, where he built a life rooted in hard work, independence, and deep connection to the outdoors. He was known for his strong will and stubborn nature—traits that those who loved him came to admire just as much as his quiet strength and determination.

He found his greatest joy in fishing and hunting, often spending long days outside doing what he loved most. Fred also had a talent for building and fixing things, always keeping his hands busy and leaving behind the mark of his craftsmanship in the lives of those around him.

He was predeceased by his wife, Grace; his son, Frederick; his sister, Emmy; and his son-in-law, John. He is survived by a daughter, Debbie; and his cherished grandchildren: Dylan, Brooke Taylor and Matt, who will carry forward his memory and the lessons he passed down through the years.

He took great pride in being an exempt member of the Monticello Fire Department, was a past member of the Monticello Elks Lodge, a founding member of Mahogany Ridge Hunting Camp, and a member of Shady Brook Hunting Camp. Fred will be remembered for his resilience, his love of the outdoors, and the unmistakable personality that made him truly one of a kind. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.  A graveside service and interment of his ashes will be held on Thursday, April 16 at 11:00am at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can made to the American Heart Association www.heart.org or to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties www.hospiceoforange.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.  For additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit www.kennyfuneralhome.com.
