GLEN SPEY – Being a mom takes a special kind of superpower, and that is evident in Meg Gorton, a mom of four in Glen Spey.
Along with her husband, Joe, they raise: Lukas, 12, Aurora, nine, Camilla, six, and Beau, three. Their son Lukas, who attends school at The Center for Discovery, is on the autism spectrum and is non-verbal.
That’s what propelled her to enter the Super Mom contest, a nationwide campaign “designed to celebrate the strength, courage and impact of mothers” according to a press release from Colossal.
The winner will receive $20,000 and a vacation of their choice.
“I entered because I thought it would be a really good opportunity for us to build a sensory-calming room in our home for Lukas,” Gorton said, adding that the vacation they would choose is an Autism on the Seas cruise.
“I am using this platform to advocate for my son,” Gorton said. She has advanced to the quarter finals and voting will continue until mid-June, around the same time as Lukas’s birthday on June 11.
Anyone can vote by going to the Super Mom website, supporters can cast one free vote every 24 hours or vote by donation with funds going to the Children’s Miracle Network. Go to www.thesupermom.org/2026/meg-gorton.
