Happy Passover!

Posted

Tomorrow marks the beginning of this year’s Passover – and we want to wish all those who partake in this historic holiday a peaceful and happy celebration! Running  until nightfall on April 20, our Jewish friends will take the time to reflect on the age-old story of freedom and trusting divine providence.

Passover places its focus on the story of Jewish captivity in Egypt, and their eventual emancipation through the actions of Moses, who was guided by God through a series of commands, plagues and miracles. Just before the Pharaoh frees his people, Moses is told of a deadly last plague – the angel of death sweeping through the streets and homes of their captors.

But as the story goes, the Israelites who spread blood on their doorframes as commanded were spared, or “passed over” from the fatal phantom. In the spirit of seeking protection from the Lord, we wish all of our Jewish friends a similar protection during this Passover and always.

Of course, the story doesn’t end there. After this last final plague, the Pharaoh finally chooses to release the Israelites enslaved thoughout his lands. And as traditions are continued to be passed down for thousands of years; most know the rest of that story.

Be sure to spend this time creating your own story with loved ones and friends – it is always better to celebrate together.
