Seven Branches of Military. Millions of service members. Countless debts owed to all of them.

This upcoming Saturday, the United States will once again recognize Armed Forces Day. This day is reserved for those who still hold their posts and are currently enrolled in the military. All across the nation, active service members will be honored for their time, dedication and support of the Army, the Navy, the Coast Guard, the Marine Corps and the Air Force.

Back home in Sullivan County, we join the nation in taking a pause to thank all those who served and are serving. Our nation has a proud history tied closely with that of our military, and we are proud to say that our county is shared between so many who had a hand in that legacy directly.

With that legacy comes characteristics that strengthen and embolden not just an individual, but the community they call home as well. Tenets like determination, discipline and leadership are engrained into the backbone of those who are serving – something that helps everyone around them too.

To those abroad and at home, we salute you and hope for your health and safety in all matters. The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave is kept that way thanks to your duty and your sacrifices.
