HONESDALE, PA — For the third year, staff of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers’ (WMCHC) Honesdale VA Outpatient Clinic are encouraging community-wide observance of The National Moment of Remembrance on Memorial Day, May 27th, at 3 pm. There is no formal program or gathering place. It can be done no matter where you are.
“The National Moment of Remembrance Act” is a law signed by President Bill Clinton in December of 2000. The intention is for all Americans to pause at 3 p.m. each Memorial Day to honor the sacrifices of our country’s fallen heroes. The time was selected purposefully as it is likely when most people will be enjoying their freedom gathered with family and friends.
Dr. Susan Mowatt, a physician who began practicing at the Honesdale clinic earlier this year, supports the concept fully, “it’s really the true meaning of Memorial Day,” she stated. Dr. Mowatt was happy to join the campaign with co-provider Jessica Woodmansee, FNP-BC and VA clinic staffers including Nurse Case Manager Jolene Pryzant, LPN who launched the initiative for WMCHC in 2022.
Campaign buttons with the slogan “Memorial Day, 3 pm, Take a Moment” will be distributed to all WMCHC offices to be worn by staff and shared with patients.
Anyone interested in receiving a campaign button, may call the Honesdale VA Outpatient Clinic at 570-251-6543. Visit www.wmchc.net for more information on all WMCHC services.
