SULLIVAN COUNTY -— Former County Legislator of 12 years, Ira Steingart, was recently appointed to be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of two positions within the Sullivan County Industrial Development Agency (IDA).

The first of these jobs is that of CEO of the IDA, a critical post in charge of managing the organization’s overall performance and strategic direction. The second role is that of a Board Member who contributes insightful knowledge and experience to help the IDA reach its objectives.

Steingart had a solid tenure of public service before taking on these roles. He had been a member of the Sullivan County Legislature for 12 years representing District 8.

As Chairman of the Board for three organizations during his term, he is looking forward to serving dutiful commitment and innovative leadership to Sullivan IDA, the Sullivan County Funding Corporation, and The Sullivan County Infrastructure Local Development Corporation.

His experience and leadership make him an important asset to both the IDA and the Board, propelling them towards growth and prosperity in their respective roles within the community. Steingart said that he is honored to serve in these positions, leveraging his skills and expertise to drive the three organizations towards success.

He also noted he strongly feels that the Sullivan County IDA has an incredible board. He also believes that his board is one of the best boards of five-hundred corporations.

“During [my] first 10 years on the board [IDA], we had the most economic growth and development,” noted Steingart.

Steingart vividly remembers attending a meeting where the topic of discussion was the planning and construction of the Kartrite Resort and Water Park. Furthermore, he served on the board responsible for overseeing development for another major project, the Resorts World Casino located in Monticello.

His position as a board member is strictly voluntary and does not come with any monetary compensation. However, he also holds the position of CEO which is paid, and has been designated by the state of New York to assist in managing all three organizations.

“I feel very fortunate,” said Steingart, “I love being a part of economic development, and I hope to continue the success [achieved by the IDA] over the last twelve years.”
