The Western Sullivan Public Library is offering “Winter BINGO for Adults.” Are you looking for something fun to do this winter? Participate in their winter Bingo to win prizes! All you must do is visit one of their branches, pick up a Bingo card, and READ! This will run from January 1st to March 30th. 

Save the Date: This year’s 10th year “Turtle Trot” 5K and 10K Race is being held on July 13th. Vendors are welcome. April asks that any friends or family members able to get donations and/or raffle prizes from businesses would be greatly appreciated. April started this event to raise money for other families in Sullivan County impacted by a life-threatening illness. The Cornell Cooperative Extension Service is offering “Dig into spring” a two-part series on garden design! Horticulture Program Coordinator Katie Gasior will be hosting an educational series through Zoom on Garden Design. Each class will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 8th and Thursday, February 15th. Topics to be covered include site assessment strategies, and elements of design that will enable participants to start illustrating their ideas. Additionally, participants will receive tips and strategies on garden styles that will best fit their individual accommodations and selections of plants that will thrive where they live. A question-and-answer session on the topics covered will close out each class.

 No fee, but preregistration is required to participate. Participants can register online at sullivancce.org/events. The New York Youth Institute at Cornell University engages high school students on the biggest challenges facing people and the planet in the 21st century. They empower students to research issues they care about, propose their own innovative ideas to solve grand global challenges, and explore exciting ways to make a difference in New York and around the world. The New York Youth Institute will welcome high school students from across New York State at Cornell University on March 22nd.  Registration will be due by February 23rd. SUNY Broome Community College announced the launch of their new Lineworker Training Program in partnership with NYSEG and IBEW Local 10. No prior experience or training necessary. Students will have both classroom and hands-on-training at the NYSEG pole yard, complete a paid internship, and upon successful completion of the program will have guaranteed interviews with NYSEG.
