The JEMS will be hosting their 1st Summer Movie at The Backyard Park (21 Lovett Lane, Jeffersonville) on Friday, June 14th ! The “Lion King” will be starting at dusk but the Park will be open at 6 p.m. so bring your blanket or chair and pick a good spot. The movies are free for a fun-filled family time! Donations are gratefully accepted and are used towards beautification projects. Light refreshments will be available to purchase. Please no pets. FMI: Call me!

“Firehouse Antiques” is opening this weekend,  Saturday, May 11th and Sunday, May 12th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. !They are located at 7 Mueller Road, Cochecton. ( corner of  State Route 17B & Mueller Road). Go look and see what treasures they found during the winter! Their Facebook post shows a tremendous inventory of lots of items I love- cannot wait to get in there! Lots of pottery, glassware, bottles, old dishes, lanterns,  and so much more. “Blueline Equipment Sales and Rentals” (located at 4443 State Route 52, Jeffersonville) is open and ready to help you even though their new repair facility is still under construction! Drop off your mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, etc. Service and repair are available and they offer local pick-up and delivery for a nominal fee if you do not have a way to drop off your mower for servicing or repair. “Liberty Blooms” florist and gift shop has opened in Liberty! My personal favorite designer “Joseph” (formerly of  Hillside Greenhouses) is there too! They have opened just in time for both Mother’s Day and the Prom with beautiful bouquets, roses, baskets, dish gardens and much more. For the Prom, they offer corsages, mini-bouquets & boutonnieres – they require pre-orders due to Mother’s Day at the same time. They have new inventory arriving daily and are located at 91N. The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is funded by the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA). This program is for year-round youth residents of Sullivan County ages 14-21, and starts July 8th  and ends August 16th, for a total of 6 weeks of employment. 

Each year, there is a variety of sites for employment both inside and outside. Job opportunities include clerical, landscaping, digital marketing, and more! They take your interests into consideration when doing job placements for SYEP. In 2023, participant survey 100% of participants were happy with job placement! They want you to earn money and gain employability skills during the summer work experience. Your success in this program is their goal.
