The Western Sullivan Public Library (Jeffersonville branch)invites  you to join them Wednesday, July 23 at 6:30pm for a  program given by a Jeff native, Leslie Loeffel, about “Coaching Days in Jeffersonville.” Leslie grew up in Kenoza Lake and has been collecting documents, and interviewing old timers for over a decade starting with genealogy materials from her mother and grandmother. “Coaching Parades” were held in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s with floats, carriages, and early cars that were elaborately decorated, paraded through the streets, and awarded prizes. Leslie also has access to a very special archive of photos taken by August Neuberger, a local photographer!

Then the next night, the 24th, Leslie will be discussing the “History of Jeffersonville Schools” at 5pm. Discover local one-room schoolhouses and their teachers, the Union Free School, and the building of the Jeffersonville Central School (later JYCS). Special surprises for the Class of 1975 for their 50th reunion too! She would love to hear from anyone with photos, documents, and stories to share. A great two-night experience full of history! Email wsplprograms@rcls.org with any questions and to register.
