The St. Patrick’s Day Parade hosted by the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Jeffersonville Fire Department last Saturday was a huge success! The day was sunny and a huge crowd of people of all ages filled Main Street Jeffersonville, enjoying the bagpipes of “McPadden Pipes & Drums”, marchers (including a large group from the Jeff Bank), floats, decorated  trucks and firetrucks with marching firefighters from many of our local Fire Departments. The Grand Marshall was Jim Hughson riding on his green John Deere tractor, of course!  Everyone including myself watched a “Leprechaun” hanging upside down from Dick’s Auto Sales wrecker, spinning around in circles (thank you to Martin C. for making all of us gasp)! A big “thank you” to JP Graham, the spunky and informative “Announcer of The Day” in the booth, The Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Jeff Fire Department for all of their hard work!

Our local restaurants had delicious specials, and the green drinks at The Tavern were great!

Ted’s Restaurant did a “Meet and Greet” and had job applications available and Sullivan Sundries was on hand to meet everyone too! We can’t wait until both of these new and amazing businesses open in our beautiful town! Little birdies say both should be opening this Spring/Summer!

It’s that time of the year to smell chicken cooking in town! The Protection Hose Company No.1 is holding their 21st Annual Chicken Barbecue at their firehouse on Main Street  on Sunday, March 26th from 1-4 p.m. Takeouts only at $13.00 each. They have a limited number of tickets left - try to catch up with a firefighter!

This Sunday the Diehl Homestead Farm is holding their 4th Annual Maple Open House from Noon until 5 p.m. (located 93 Diehl Rd, Callicoon). A free event, serving pancakes and fresh maple syrup all day! Watch them cook sap into maple syrup. Free cone of maple cotton candy for visitors. They have maple syrup, maple products, honey, eggs, milk and more available for sale. A great fun-filled family day-please dress for outdoors at a farm. FMI: 845-482-5047.

Reminder: A Pig Roast – benefit fundraiser for Bob Kays is being held at The Carousel Dairy Bar (1018 Beach Lake Highway, Beach Lake, PA) on Saturday. Pickup from 3-5 p.m. for $20 per ticket (available at Callicoon Supply & Carousel). Raffle tickets too @$5 each and you don’t need to be there to win. If you can’t make it to the event and want to donate, please stop by either the Callicoon Supply or Carousel – checks need to be made out to Robert Kays. All proceeds will be given to Bob and his family to help defray many costs. Show your love and come out to support this wonderful, local family.

Join the Western Sullivan Public Library and Buck Brook Alpacas in making felted eggs on Tuesday, April 4th at 5 p.m. at their Jeffersonville Branch (located at 19 Center Street). This fun spring craft is soothing and will look amazing! FMI: 845-482-4350.

Please let me know if you have any news to share and enjoy this wonderful Spring weather!
