A Poem to the Mountains

Posted

Hi Everyone,

I was thinking about what to write this week. I remembered that I wrote a “Poem to the Mountains” last year. When I looked it up, I really loved it… I thought to share it again with some improvements though (I shall hope my writing is better a year later…). I hope you’ll enjoy it even if you might have read it last year…

To the mountains I raise my eyes,

And with my pen I’ll express my praise.

In the spring, as the world woke up from hibernation,

Your slopes, valleys, and roads were ready to offer fresh water.

Your sap flowed everywhere,

And with its sweet voice you energized our spirits.

You overflow with blessing and share it with others downhill,

You nourish and sustain even the ones who don’t caress your soil.

As the summer comes along your giving doesn’t cease,

“Up your alley” now, is fresh air to share.

You rejuvenate and refresh, the young and the old,

You embrace everyone –

the ones who sleep on you all year and the ones who dream about you during the winter.

In you, East meets West and Urban meets Rural.

People of different worlds find “common ground” on you.

You make everyone feel special by raising them up high.

Your qualities and your greatness stand tall

With pride you testify to the goodness of your Creator

and the ideals we shall all aspire to.

May we all learn from you:

To raise, to sustain, to ensweeten, to delight, to refresh… and to rejuvenate

Ourselves and all who are around us, to the best of our abilities

May it be a safe, peaceful, refreshing, and joyful summer to us all and to the greater world.
