John McCormack of Jeffersonville, NY and Byron, MN passed away on April 26 at the age of 60.

John was a devoted husband, father, Pop Pop, son, brother, veteran, and friend whose life was marked by service, strength, and love for the outdoors. He found joy in hunting, fishing, music, and time spent on the water and in nature. He proudly served his country as a veteran and later dedicated part of his life to serving his community as a volunteer firefighter.

In recent years, John became a passionate advocate for ALS awareness, facing his journey with courage and determination while continuing to inspire those around him. His resilience, sense of humor, and deep love for his family will be remembered always.

John is survived by his loving wife, Sue McCormack; his children and their spouses, Karl and Cat McCormack, John and Halie McCormack, and Madison and Matt Sorensen; his grandson and granddaughter; his mother, Kathlyn McCormack; and his siblings, Susan McCormack, Brian McCormack, and Beth McCormack Bernitt. He was preceded in death by his father Basil “Mac” McCormack and mother-in-law Emily Calvert. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will deeply miss him.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to ALS TDI or Oxbow Park/Zollman Zoo in Byron, MN.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
