Johnston & Rhodes expands operations with Shursky acquisition

Posted

LAKE COMO, PA — Johnston & Rhodes Stone Company, LLC has acquired key assets of the Shursky Company, expanding its presence in northeastern Pennsylvania, according to a company statement.

The purchase, finalized March 14, includes the Rock Lake mill and quarry site, Leo’s 848 Products pallet manufacturing operation, and four permitted quarries totaling about 512 acres.

Johnston & Rhodes operates as a subsidiary of Aden Mining & Materials, Inc.

Company officials said the acquisition is expected to increase production capacity by incorporating two mill facilities in Lake Como and expanding access to stone reserves through the additional quarry sites.

As part of the transition, most stone cutting activity will be consolidated at the Lake Como location. Operations remaining in East Branch will include natural cleft products, custom fabrication, the inventory yard and limited cutting work.

Nick Shursky has been appointed Vice President of Operations and will oversee manufacturing across both locations. The existing Lake Como workforce will remain in place, the company said.
