Joseph E. Soller of Rock Hill, NY passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, February 17 after a sudden and brief illness. He was a very young and vibrant 79 years old.
Joe retired in 2016 from Schmidt’s Wholesale Inc., where he proudly worked as a salesperson for 54 years. His dedication, strong work ethic, and genuine connection with customers defined his career.
He has been reunited with the love of his life, Nicki, to whom he was married for 50 years. We imagine them once again listening to Neil Diamond and sharing family stories together.
He is survived by his sons, Brian (fiancée Dana) and Christian (wife Dawn); his beloved grandchildren, Aubrey, Hunter, Gavin, Chloe, and Lyla; his partner Debbie; his sister, Barbara (Michael); and his brother, Bill.
Joe proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1966 to 1971, earning his sharpshooter badge. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed skiing, hunting, paddleboarding, and, in recent years, developed a true passion for pickleball. He especially cherished time spent at his home on Wanaksink Lake, fully enjoying everything lake life had to offer.
A friend to all, Joe was always there for his family, friends, and neighbors. No matter the task, he was willing to step in and give it his best.
Funeral services will be private. Family and friends look forward to a May celebration of Joe’s remarkable life, one that cannot be captured in just a few words.
If so inclined, donations may be made in his memory to the Rock Hill Fire Department, P.O. Box 116, Rock Hill, NY 12775.
Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello. For additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit www.kennyfuneralhome.com.
