SULLIVAN COUNTY — The legacy of the Catskills’ famed resort era will continue to be celebrated throughout 2025 with a series of Borscht Belt historical marker unveilings across Sullivan County.
These events are part of an ongoing initiative to honor the rich cultural and entertainment history of the Borscht Belt and its influence on American life.
The schedule kicks off in Ellenville on May 24, followed by Greenfield Park on May 25. Later in the summer, Loch Sheldrake will host its ceremony on July 17, with Woodbourne following on August 23.
As autumn approaches, the celebration moves to Parksville on October 5, before wrapping up in Livingston Manor on October 18.
Each event will feature the unveiling of a newly placed historical marker commemorating the area’s contributions to the Borscht Belt era, which saw the rise of iconic resorts, Jewish-American culture, and legendary performers throughout the mid-20th century.
The community gatherings offer a chance to remember, celebrate, and preserve this rich chapter of Sullivan County history.
