Greetings faithful readers of the Kenoza Lake news column. Life begins again today, after my 46th April 15 as an income tax professional. I am still wrapping up some loose ends as the Town of Bethel Tax Collector. Trying to catch my breath after the huge deadline. Today’s column will be brief and my future news columns will be more detailed. I will give you updates about the state of affairs with our local post offices as well as increased check washing activities that I learned of during my Town of Bethel Tax Collection season.
The Kenoza Lake United Methodist Church will have their annual Easter service on Sunday, April 20 at 8am followed by Easter breakfast at the firehouse. The set-up for the Easter breakfast will take place on Saturday, April 19 at 3pm. All are welcome to join us for this joyful Easter service.
I am a Facebook person. Although there is a one percent negative aspect to Facebook, it is, in my humble opinion, an effective news sharing platform. Last week, someone introduced me to an amazing new song. Easter Hallelujah, sung by Cassandra Star and Her sister Callahan. If you have a smart phone, television or computer, I encourage you to look for this beautiful song. Be sure to see the words as well. Chilling and very special, this holy week.
Kathy Armbrust called me last week to say that she has scheduled a clean-up day for the Kenoza Lake Methodist Cemetery. The event will take place on Saturday, April 26 and will run from 10am until 2pm. The event is scheduled as part of the New York State Caring for your Cemetery Day. Kathy asks that people bring their gardening gloves and tools as she helps to clean up the cemetery. If you are unable to attend, donations of flowers or flower bulbs, grass seed etc., are being accepted. Monetary donations are being accepted. Please call Kathy on 845-482-3374 for more information.
The Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church will be holding their annual chicken barbecue on Saturday, May 3. In my opinion, this is one of the best chicken barbeques around. It features strawberry shortcake as well. Advanced ticket purchases are recommended. Call Ruth at 845-701-3884 or Kathy at 845-482-4504. Tickets are $15 each and the dinner runs from 4-6:30pm (or until sold out).
How about those Mets? They got off to a shaky start, but things are settling down now. Amazin’!
