Kevin J. Colpoys, 82, of White Lake, NY, passed away suddenly on August 4th, 2025 in Vero Beach, FL.

Kevin was born in Niagara Falls, NY in 1943 to Mary and Harold Colpoys. He was a teacher, a principal, and an administrator whose positive impact was far-reaching. He earned a Master’s degree in Education Administration from SUNY Brockport and served as the Superintendent of Sullivan County BOCES from 1992 to 1997, among other roles.

He was a pillar of every community he was a part of. He continued to volunteer his time well after retirement with school boards and Kiwanis Clubs in Cape Coral, Florida and Roscoe, NY, the Cape Coral Irish-American Club, and the Beechwood Community in White Lake, NY. He loved boating, and spent most of his life in and around the water.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathleen Payne, their son William Colpoys, his sons Sean Colpoys and Seth Colpoys, and his daughter Michelle McDonough, as well as his five grandchildren Riley, Shane, and Caitlin McDonough, Ryan Colpoys and Karly Colpoys.

Arrangements for a small funeral service will be made at a future date.
