GRAHAMSVILLE -- A slow first quarter with a total of only 12 points by both teams quickly turned in favor of the Tri-Valley Lady Bears last Thursday night as they outscored a young and inexperienced Liberty team 15-7 in the second quarter to post their second non-league win, 43-27, of the season.

Liberty Coach Liz Fuentes noted that as it is the beginning of the season, the team is still learning each other.

For the Indians it was their first game of the year while the Bears already recorded a victory in their first game against Ellenville and that one game experience pushed the Bears to a 22-12 half time lead.

Tri-Valley's offense led to the Bears outscoring Liberty 15-7 in the third eight minutes of play to take a 37-19 third quarter lead.

Liberty outscored the Bears 8-6 in the fourth quarter as Tri-Valley recorded an easy 16-point win.

Victoria Swett took scoring honors for Tri-Valley with 16 points off two treys, four two pointers and two foul shots. Rebecca Musa added 8 points with two three pointers and one deuce.

Ally Roth scored 9 points for Liberty off three two pointers and one trey.

Tri-Valley committed 27 turnovers to Liberty's 20. Tri-Valley is now 2-0 while Liberty is 0-1.

Tri-Valley Coach Gary Terbush in post game remarks noted what he saw with the comment, “sloppy...very sloppy but we did play well on defense but went too much for the home run ball instead of setting up and getting a good shot and we experienced a lot of turnovers.

Coach Fuentes added, “We played a better second half but offensively we just could not get it together.”
