As the month of May kicks off, there is a sense of renewed energy and excitement in the air. Spring is in full bloom, the weather is getting warmer, and many of us are looking forward to a new season of possibilities.
Here are a few upcoming local events that are happening in our community and nearby towns.
The 2nd Annual Shad Shindig on May 20th from 6-10 PM at Fort Delaware. Featuring Celebrity Chef Annika Sundivik, “Nordic Preserves’ Shad Tasting”, Food Vendors Nikki C’s Seafood, and bars by “TAP Festival 2022 Winners” Shrewd Fox Brewery and Rock Valley Spirits. Tickets are $20.
Sullivan West Central School District Budget is on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Locations: Delaware Youth Center, Tusten Public Library, Jeffersonville Public Library (new polling location). Any questions please email budget@swcsd.org
Women’s Wellness Wednesday continues at Yoga by the Lake, a class designed exclusively for women and girls seeking a safe and supportive space to explore the benefits of yoga and self-care. Led by a female instructor, this class offers a unique opportunity for women to connect with their bodies, minds, and spirits in a warm and inviting environment. The Sullivan County Chamber Orchestra and the Nesin Cultural Arts present an evening of exceptional music, fine wine, and culinary delicacies at the “Tastes and Sounds of Italy” gala fundraiser May 21 at 4 pm at the Jeffersonville Bake Shop.
TOWN OF COCHECTON -2023 Spring Clean-up - Town of Cochecton residents held on May 20 and 21, 2023, from 9 AM – 2:45 PM. Items may be brought to the Cochecton Town Hall, CR 116, Lake Huntington, NY. Acceptable items include Household junk, Bulky waste (furniture, mattresses, carpets, etc.); Iron pipes must be cut to 4-foot lengths; Drums and tanks must be empty and cut open or crushed.; Paint or tar cans must be empty and dry; NO full or partially full cans of paint, NO commercial dumping. NO household garbage, NO yard waste, leaves, stumps, roots, or rocks.
