Yes, it is that time of year, Tax season. The Town Hall will be open to pay your taxes in person as long as you have a mask on. I love you all, but I do not want your cooties.

It's going to be very hard. I love when you come in the office and chat away and play catch up.

Town of Cochecton, please take notice that I, Eileen Hennessy the Tax Collector of the Town of Cochecton, County of Sullivan, and the State of New York, will be collecting the 2021 Town and County Taxes in the Town of Cochecton Town Hall, 74 Smales Rd, Cochecton, NY.

Taxes will be received in my office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and Saturdays and Sundays by chance or appointment.

Best way to get in touch with me is by emailing taxcollector@townofcochectonny.org. If weather is bad call first 845-932-8360 X 17. If you are paying in person you have to wear a mask, put your tax payment on my desk and wait in the hall.

Take further notice that the taxes may be paid without interest on or before January 31st, 2021. After January 31st, the following is a graduated interest schedule: January - Par, February - 1%, and March - 2%. In addition a $2 penalty will be added to your bill if they are not paid when the unpaid notices are sent on or before March 5 (State Law).

Installment payments may be paid as follows: January -50% due by 1/31/2021 at 0% interest. Send “Payment #1” stub with your check. February - 25% due by 2/28/2021 at 1% interest on remaining account. Send “Payment#2 stub. March - 25% due by 3/31/2021 at 2% interest + $2.00 unpaid notice fee.

Make checks payable to Town of Cochecton Tax Collector. Mail payments to Eileen Hennessy, 295 Mohn Rd, Narrowsburg, NY 12764 Send entire bill. If installment payments are not timely postmarked they will not be accepted. There is a $30.00 returned check charge.

For Credit Card Payments, Credit Cards accepted are Visa, Master Card and Discover. NO E-CHECKS OR AMEX.

Payment Services provided by Satellite.biz. The credit carriers charge a 3% fee on each transaction. You may obtain a duplicate tax bill/receipt or check the status of your payment via the Internet at www.taxlookup.net.

If you have to change an address, call the assessor at 845/932-8360, ext.12, or if you need any past tax information call the county at 845/807-0200.
