Lamborghinis at the boat dealership?

Posted

MONTICELLO — A set of vehicles resembling Lamborghinis, stacked on a carrier in a local marine dealer’s sales lot, are in fact boats designed to look like sports cars and are headed for rental use at Starlight Marina on Swinging Bridge Reservoir.

“They’re not Lamborghinis. They’re jet cars,” said Emirsen Shehi, general manager of Monticello Marine Center.

The vehicles, known as “jet cars,” recently arrived at Monticello Marine Center and are expected to be available for rent through Starlight Marina as the boating season approaches.

Despite their appearance, the vehicles do not operate on land. Shehi said the jet cars are popular in markets like Miami, where they are used as a tourism experience.

The dealership received its first shipment within the past month and is displaying several units as part of a new offering. While the vehicles can be purchased starting around $50,000, Shehi said the focus will be on rentals.

“It’s more of an experience… a tourist attraction,” he said.

The jet cars are expected to be available on Swinging Bridge Reservoir once the marina is fully open for the season.
