Liberty Public Library Senior Coffee Club: “Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?”

Posted

LIBERTY - On Monday Oct. 4 at 10:30 a.m., Liberty Public Library welcomes Bonnie Lewis, RN CCE Sullivan County to present her talk, “Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?” This free program is an opportunity to gain insight into your options for saving the special pieces of your life and alternately ~ what do you do with all of your other possessions (who gets what and how do you decide)?

We try to put our estates in order (power of attorney, a health care proxy, a will or trust) but what is the missing link? Our family history and family artifacts! It can take just two generations for memories of an ancestor to disappear from the memories of our descendants. What happens to the family memories, artifacts, stories, and photographs is really up to you!

Topics presented include:

  • Documenting your family history that is tied into these precious family artifacts;
  • Evaluating your options when distributing the treasured family possessions;
  • What is fair? Family experiences and being sensitive to what ‘fair’ means in your family;
  • And setting up ground rules and managing the conflicts if they arise (who gets what and why?!)

This talk is part of the Library’s Senior Club discussions that occur monthly at 10:30 a.m. This free discussion will be held at the Liberty Public Library at 189 North Main Street, Liberty, in person or via Zoom. To register for in-person or the Zoom link, please call the library at (845) 292-6070, or email lib@rcls.org.
