Livingston Manor drops non-league contest against Deposit/Hancock

LIVINGSTON MANOR – The Wildcats are off to a slow start to the season, and are developing a young team in the early games before big upcoming league matchups against Roscoe, Eldred and Chapel Field.

Livingston Manor earned their first win of the season against Deposit/Hancock in the consolation game of the D/H tournament, but were unable to repeat that performance in the rematch, ultimately losing 56-30 on Monday night.

The Eagles jumped ahead early, establishing their full-court press and setting the pace of the game in the opening minutes. By the end of the first quarter, D/H had already opened up an 18-4 lead over Livingston Manor, and the Wildcats would not fare much better in the subsequent quarters.

Deposit/Hancock opened the second quarter on an 11-0 run, and eventually outscored the Wildcats 13-4 in the second quarter.

Livingston Manor was able to muster up some additional offense in the second half, but D/H kept pace with them, expanding their lead in each of the final two quarters to complete the wire-to-wire victory.

The Eagles have turned things around since their 0-2 start to the season, but the loss will be a learning experience for the young Wildcats team, the same team that kept the Blue Devils in check in their first league matchup of the season.

Turnovers, missed shots, and struggling at the free throw line have contributed to Livingston Manor’s slow start to the season, but the hustle and hard work that this team puts in should allow them to grow and improve as the season continues.

The Wildcats are off through the new year, but will be squaring off against an improved Eldred squad on January 4.
