NARROWSBURG – Although Logging Days has come and gone one can’t help to think, where did all those shavings and leftover wood go? Tommy and Cecelia Coacci spoke with the Democrat about what it takes to prepare for an event like Logging Days and the clean up afterwards. Planning for the event typically begins right after clean-up of the previous event. “We’ve already started planning for next year’s event,” shared Cecelia who is the head of the Logging Days Committee. Logging Days is put on every year by the Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce and the committee helps organize it.
“Logging Days is a community event, and we get a lot of locals to come out, but we also get people from as far as Scranton, New York City and Philadelphia who participate,” Cecelia said.
According to Tommy Coacci, set up for this year began on the Wednesday prior. Two dump trucks full of logs were brought in, with all the lumber generously donated by Hofer Log & Lumber. You might think that the clean-up would take days, but just as quickly as the lumber is set up, the area is cleared just as fast thanks to Tommy and his team of volunteers. Any leftover lumber doesn’t go to waste; instead, it’s distributed as firewood to residents for use during the cold months– a true testament to community spirit!
