LIBERTY — A public hearing held by the Town of Liberty Monday night heard no opinion on the introduction of a local law intent on amending the end of a paragraph in Section 109-8, which exempted Town parks from closing at sunset if they were lighted. With the change, all town parks would open at 8 a.m. and close at sunset regardless.

An environmental review was not required as the local law was determined to be a Type II Action pursuant to the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA).

PUD still on until April 9

The moratorium on the Planned Unit Developments (PUD) remains active until April 3, according to Town Attorney Ken Klein. Additionally, DeMayo noted that any correspondence on the topic sent to the town will be logged in chronological order on the town website.

Following an inquiry during public comment from Liberty resident Cora Edwards on whether the Town will extend the moratorium for an additional 90 days, Supervisor DeMayo said he is “sure the board will extend.”

Walnut Mountain

Permission for the creation of a bid package for a proposed 60’ by 96’ open-space pavilion on Walnut Mountain was confirmed from the Town Board on Monday. The facility is being funded by a grant awarded to the town in 2018.

DeMayo confirmed that later down the road there is an intent to install a kitchen and storage space in a 16’ by 16’ area on one end of the pavilion. Additionally, bathrooms for the pavilion would not be a part of this bid package.
