Mary Margaret Macedonio, of Monticello, New York, passed away at the age of 87 on December 28.

Mary was born on July 24, 1938, in Kings Park, Long Island, New York, to Michael J. and Catherine (Twardowski) Corcoran. She was raised on Long Island and later made her home in Ronkonkoma, New York, where she lived on a horse and pig farm with her husband and children. In 1973, Mary relocated to Monticello, New York, where she became a school bus driver for the Monticello Central School District. She proudly served the district for many years before retiring.

Mary took great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a lifelong love of gardening, a passion she proudly inherited from her father. She was an avid fan of her favorite baseball team, the New York Mets, and enjoyed watching them play whenever she could. Mary took quiet pleasure in watching the birds that visited her birdfeeders, especially her cardinals. She also enjoyed her family’s involvement in the harness horse racing business. Perhaps most endearing was her fondness for pigs, which reflected her years spent on the family farm; this affection grew into a cherished collection of pig-themed keepsakes that brought her much happiness.

Mary is survived by her daughters: Dolores (Neil) Willson of Manchester, GA; Maryann (Thomas) Manza of Middletown, NY; and Michele (Ron Lemon) Macedonio of Monticello, NY. She was a proud grandmother to Michael (Mollie) Messenger, Megan (Keith) Rieber, Amanda (Steve) Bucci-Nicoll, Emily (Greg) Drobysh-Dedrick, Ryan Macedonio, Angela (Jake) Edwards, Tiffany (Tom) Ufret, Cristie Hinkley, and Chauncey Caruso, and a cherished great-grandmother to Owen and Leo Messenger; Abigail, Leah, Sage, and Emma Rieber; Olivia Bucci, Maggie and Ainsley Nicoll; Landon Dedrick; Crystal Edwards, Travis and Tobin Ufret; and Grayson Hinkley. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Carole Macedonio; her sisters-in-law, Marge Corcoran, Lorraine Macedonio, Petrina Fusco, and Rita Belcastro; her brother- and sister-in-law, Philip and Geri Macedonio; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her parents; her former husband, Dominic A. Macedonio; her son, Carmine A. Macedonio; her companion of many years, John DiMarzio; her brothers, John and Edward Corcoran; her sister-in-law, Magna Corcoran; and other members of the Macedonio family.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Achieve Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Liberty, New York, for the compassionate and loving care provided to Mary during her years of residence there.
