MONTICELLO  — On Monday, August 28, Resorts World Catskills in Monticello hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the Monster Golf Club. In attendance were executives from Genting, which operates Resorts World Catskills, Rees Jones - the architect behind the complete redesign of the course, as well as local elected officials and members of the Catskills community.

Jones used holes from both the current Monster golf course and the Old International Course, with Resorts World Catskills investing $40 million. The golf club was originally designed in 1963 by Joe Finger and was once rated as one of America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses by Golf Digest.

“Today’s event adds yet another chapter to this storied golf course and shows the world once again what makes the Catskills such a special community,” said Robert DeSalvio, President, Genting Americas East.

DeSalvio also said that part of their vision for Resorts World has always included the “reinvigoration and restoration” of the golf course. The par-72 championship course challenges golfers at every talent level, with length, numerous water hazards and bunkers.

“We are proud to have delivered on this important commitment,” DeSalvio said. “We are extremely grateful for the unwavering support of so many who helped turn the dream of championship gold in the Catskills into a reality.”

Golfers have the abilitity to ride in style with new lithum-ion E-Z-GO golf carts which are equipped with GPS technology. Getting to and from the golf course is also convenient with a complimentary shuttle service running every 20 minutes from dawn till dusk. The shuttle makes stops at Resorts World Catskills, The Alder, The Monster golf club and The Kartrite.

The Monster golf club Pro Shop, located inside The Alder, is open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Pro Shop offers a variety of products from top golf brands and is the check-in location for the Monster golf club.

Tee times for the golf course are available seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Times can be reserved at monstergolfclub.com, with Sullivan County residents, active military, veterans and hotel guests of Resorts World Catskills eligible for discounted fees.
