CALLICOON – Monticello defeated Sullivan West in a golf match at the Villa Roma on May 11. Abby Morse shot a match-best 50, and Harly Taylor shot a 52 in the 157-167 victory.
Lucia Kennedy and Ryan McElroy both shot a 53 in the loss. The Lady Panthers are 8-3 overall and 8-0 in the league, while Sullivan West is 5-10 (5-5).

Baseball
Cornwall defeated Monticello 11-1 on May 11, giving the Panthers all they could handle in a league contest. Cornwall drew 10 walks and needed just six hits in the win.
Fallsburg had back-to-back home losses on May 11 and 12. On Thursday, the Comets and O’Neill Raiders competed and the Raiders fended off a six-run second inning from Fallsburg to win 19-7.
On Friday, Livingston Manor traveled to Fallsburg and won 11-10. Fallsburg scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to bring the score within a run but were unable to get that final run across to send the game to extra innings. The Wildcats picked up their second win of the season thanks to a 4.2 inning relief effort by Anthony Zamenick.
On Monday, Monticello traveled to Port Jervis to take on the Raiders. Despite getting five hits and holding the Raiders scoreless for the first three innings, the Panthers ended up dropping the league contest 9-0.
O’Neill defeated Liberty 14-4 on Monday, but the Indians are still 8-6 (3-3) in the league. Tanner Bury netted two hits in the loss including a double and two RBI.
Eldred defeated Livingston Manor 14-0 on Monday afternoon. Josh Warming earned the win and allowed just two hits while striking out 12 in the win. Anthony Zamenick went 2-2 with a double.
Tri-Valley and Ellenville went up to Cooperstown for a non-league matchup at Doubleday Field. The Bears fell behind early, but came back in the late innings to win 13-6. All five of Ellenville’s runs scored in the first five innings were unearned.
Softball
Tri-Valley defeated Burke via the walk-off on May 11 to win 13-12. Tri-Valley opened the game with a 5-1 lead before Burke rallied to tie it in the 4th. The back and forth game ended when Sierra Mickelson hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the 7th.
Chester defeated Liberty 16-2 on May 11, keeping it much closer for most of the game, unlike their early season 23-run loss to Chester.
Eldred swept their season series against Livingston Manor, defeating the Lady Wildcats 10-4 and 20-1 in back-to-back games. The Lady Yellowjackets finished a perfect 4-0 in league play this season and will be headed to Sectionals.
Tri-Valley hosted S.S. Seward on Monday and defeated them 7-2. Jenna Carmody threw a complete game for the Lady Bears, allowing just three hits in the contest.
Liberty defeated Fallsburg 19-7 for their second win and the season sweep of the Lady Comets. It was Liberty’s senior night and Charlyanna Johnson, Angelica Rothberg and Grace Wormuth were honored prior to the game.
Monticello defeated Eldred 8-5 on Tuesday behind a strong start by 8th grader Ryleigh Schoonmaker. Eldred finished their regular season 8-4 (4-0).
Livingston Manor defeated Liberty 20-4 on Tuesday, with Mackenzie Carlson leading the way at the plate going 2-4 with a triple, three RBI and three runs scored. Carlson threw a complete game, giving up two earned runs and two hits while striking out 12.
Megan Schmidt and Aaliyah Williams both legged out 2-run inside-the-park home runs in the 4th inning in the loss.
Jenna Carmody carried the Lady Bears to a victory over Chapel Field on Tuesday afternoon. Carmody gave up just two hits and struck out 11 Lady Lions in the 8-4 victory.
Monticello lost to Pine Bush 19-5 on Wednesday afternoon. Monticello’s Erin Brawley went 2-3 with a single, triple and 3 RBI for the Lady Panthers.
Golf
The Liberty girls 7-6 (7-2) defeated Fallsburg on May 11 in a match at the Sullivan County Golf and Country Club. Fallsburg had just one golfer so the Comets were unable to win despite Sophia Jacobs having the second best score of the match.
The Monticello girls won the league championship after a 172-197 win over Liberty at Lochmor on Tuesday. The Lady Panthers finished a perfect 10-0 in the division and Liberty finished 7-3.
