The Neversink Fire department played host to their January Cornhole tournament on January 14, where 37 two-person teams (a total of 74 competitors) battled it out for over 12 hours of competition. The championship winners were the two-man team of Rodney T. Jester III of Liberty and David Donovan of Grahamsville.
The tournament required competitors to bring their own partner and to compete using cornhole bags provided by the tournament organizer Russell Turner Jr.
The tournament also featured a cooking crew and beverage staffers.
The championship match between Jester and Donavan and Mike Foster and Mike Ryan Jr. featured a barn burner with Jester and Donavan winning five games to four after a long battle and ultimately claiming first place.
The next tournament at the Neversink Fire Department will be held in February.
