LOCH SHELDRAKE — New Hope Community is proud to announce its inclusion in a New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) public awareness campaign that combats the stereotyping and discrimination of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).“Look Beyond My Developmental Disability” aims to highlight and celebrate the contributions of the I/DD community.
The statewide campaign features New Hope Community resident Noah and community members Anthony and Terrence. Noah’s love of golf and involvement in the New Hope Knights Special Olympics team is showcased while Anthony and Terrence are shown gardening as part of their employment opportunity at Hope Farm, run by New Hope Community and its local partners. Additional, not yet released, installments of the campaign will feature Nicole, Lina, Helene, Leroy and Jeffrey – all of whom receive supports and services from New Hope Community.
New Hope Community believes the campaign aligns with the nonprofit’s mission to provide person-centered services and supports for people with I/DD.
