New leadership for Town of Lumberland

GLEN SPEY — The Town of Lumberland is starting 2024 off with new leadership.  Councilwoman Suzanne Edzenga took the oath of office Monday morning to become Lumberland’s next Town Supervisor.  The Town Board appointed Edzenga to the position following the resignation of Supervisor Jenny Mellan.

“I’m very excited to take on this new opportunity,” said Edzenga. “I’m looking forward to working with the other board members to continue improving the quality of life for all residents of the town.”

Edzenga was originally elected to the Town Board in 2021.  Previous to that, she served as the chair and member of the Lumberland Planning Board.  Before becoming Supervisor, she served briefly as the Deputy Town Supervisor.  She additionally serves as the Executive Director for a NYS Assemblyman.

A special election will be held in November 2024 to fill the unexpired term of Mellan. Edzenga has indicated that she will seek election for that term.
