New (old) business opens in Jeff

Posted

JEFFERSONVILLE — Brian Caycho jokes that he could have skipped updates to the waiting room at the new Integrity Automotive in Jeffersonville.

"Literally nobody sits here, they all leave to walk to the new businesses in town," Caycho says.

But that's what makes opening up in the old Justus Auto building right in the heart of Jeff so perfect for Caycho — when the doors opened on May 20, he instantly joined a booming business community.

Caycho has been looking for a spot to set up shop for years, waiting for a place like Justus to come on the market.

"My father did automotive," he explained, "I pretty much grew up in a repair shop."

Raised in Monticello, Caycho graduated from Monticello High School and studied automotive and collision repair at SUNY Alfred. He served in the US Army and returned home to work for years at Robert Green in Monticello.

Married to Jeffersonville native Maura Mullally, the two have made their home in Narrowsburg where they're raising their two children in the Sullivan West district.

Buying Justus was like coming home, Maura Mullally Caycho says.

The auto shop has sat on the corner at the bottom of Schoolhouse Road for decades, at one time as a Texaco gas station and more recently a service station run by former Jeff Mayor Ed Justus and his family.

When the Justuses decided to put it up for sale, the Caychos saw a chance to have something of their own.

Now Brian Caycho offers complete auto repair — he'll soon have the ability to do New York State inspections and alignments too.

Although the name has changed — it's now Integrity Automotive — one thing hasn't. You can still call the old Justus phone number, 482-4815, to get your car in for service.
