OBERNBURG – Last Saturday, there was a wedding just prior to the 4 p.m. Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Obernburg.
Following the service, everyone headed to The North Branch Inn for the reception.
However, five young ladies from Brooklyn, riding together, managed to back their car over the bank on their way out of the parking lot.
Hopelessly stuck, they asked for help.
Town Supervisor Brian Brustman, who is also a frequent parishioner of the church, went home to get his New Holland tractor and, with the help of local resident Charlie Deckelman and a 20-foot chain, had the ladies back on the road in minutes.
Small town America, alive and well.
And church service was only delayed three minutes.
Only in a small town…
