LIBERTY — Sullivan County’s Department of Community Services is pleased to announce the resumption of walk-in service for those seeking mental health, substance use and/or other therapeutic assistance, starting in mid-February.
“We were forced by the COVID-19 pandemic to go to appointments only, but since that crisis has passed and our staffing levels have risen sufficiently, we are very glad to welcome people back who can’t or don’t want to wait for an appointment,” said Deputy Health and Human Services Commissioner Melissa Stickle. “Starting February 13, Community Services will remain open three more hours every Tuesday evening, till 8 p.m., no appointments needed. And starting February 15, our Mental Health Clinic will accept walk-ins every Thursday between 9 a.m. and noon.”
The Department of Community Services offers the following:
• Individual Psychotherapy
• Marital & Family Counseling
• Group Therapy (not offered during extended Tuesday hours)
• Medication Therapy
• Crisis Intervention/Outreach
• Court Evaluations
• Consultation & Education
• Case Management
• Anger Management
• Coordinated Children’s Services Initiative SPOA (Single Point of Access)
“These are crucial services for our residents, and I am thrilled we’re extending the hours and opening up access to folks who otherwise face barriers to receiving the support they very much need,” noted District 5 Legislator Cat Scott, chair of the Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee. “Our team is dedicated to helping anyone who needs assistance, and I encourage people to take full advantage of these services. There is nothing wrong – and everything right – in seeking out help when life gets tough.”
