Open Space Institute (OSI) to tackle new study

SULLIVAN COUNTY — OSI is working on a feasibility study to create a vision to transform and connect the 57-mile former O&W Rail Trail and D&H Towpath corridor into a continuous multi-use trail. If completed, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to access and explore a trail with incredible scenery connecting local communities from Kingston all the way to Port Jervis. Visit the project’s new webpage to learn more.

As a part of the project, OSI is launching a community survey, which will assess how members of the community currently view and use trails, as well as what amenities they might want to see in a completed trail corridor in the future.

You are also encouraged to get involved by attending one of three planned Open House events, the details of which you can find below. The corridor passes through three counties, Ulster, Sullivan, and Orange, and we are hosting an open house in each county. For all events, participants may stop by at any time between 4pm and 7pm; registration is not required.

• Wednesday, May 1st: Ellenville Village Hall Meeting Room (2 Elting Ct, Ellenville, NY)

• Monday, May 6th: Mamakating Town Hall Community Room (2948 US-209, Wurtsboro, NY)

• Tuesday, May 14th: Port Jervis City Hall Meeting Room (20 Hammond St, Port Jervis, NY)
