PARKSVILLE – A structure fire at 154 Service Road in Parksville destroyed a home and displaced its residents, Renay and Rosalie Crespo, along with their two kids, Charlie and Ray Ray.

The Liberty Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 1:17 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, February 24. While responding, Liberty Chief Mark Johnstone requested mutual aid for an engine and tanker from Livingston Manor Fire Department and a tanker from White Sulphur Springs Fire Department, according to the Liberty Fire Department.

The Liberty Fire Department reported that the residence was “already well involved in fire” and was being driven by windy conditions. An additional engine and tanker were then requested from the Roscoe/Rockland Fire Department as well as a tanker from the Swan Lake Fire Department. There were also two separate fill sites established for the tankers in shuttling to the fire. Loch Sheldrake Fire Department was on standby at Liberty Station 17 during the incident. Also assisting on the scene were BC-3, Mobilemedic EMS and the New York State Police.

In extinguishing the fire, the Liberty Fire Department reported that crews operated on the scene for about two and a half hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire.

The residents reportedly lost all their clothing to the fire. Anyone looking to help the family is asked to contact Christa Reinshagen on Facebook.
