Patricia Crumley passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, NY.

Patricia was born on July 16, 1944, in Queens, NY to the late William and Alice Ryan. She was their only child.

She will forever be remembered and grieved for by her son William “Billy” Crumley and his companion Tracy and her daughter Lauren Davis, her husband Brian Davis and their sons Eathen and Greyson; Her daughter and caretaker Christine Crumley and her son Bradley Gruber (Ashley) and his son Wyatt Gruber; Her daughter Cathleen Crumley Doherty and her husband Robert Doherty and their three sons John Ryan, Matthew and Douglas Doherty (Yesimar).

She is predeceased by her husband Richard “Dickie” Crumley and son-in-law James Gruber.

Patricia graduated from St. Michael’s in Manhattan and attended St. John’s University.

Patricia spent her summers in Smallwood, NY.  When she was fourteen she had met who would be her husband, Dickie Crumley, at the infamous teen hangout known as “the wall”. Five years later they would elope in Virginia. Together they had three children. They were married for forty-nine years when he passed away in 2012.

Dickie and Patty, as they were known, were partners in parenting, politics and business.

In 1979 they bought a gas station that later evolved into a used car lot. They ran that business successfully until they sold it in 1990. Patricia then returned to college earning two associate degrees from Sullivan County Community College. She was employed at Sullivan County March 1994 retiring in February 2007.

Patricia was a loving mother and grandmother.  She was the mom who would drive “all the way from White Lake” to pick up and/or drop off anyone of her kids, or grandkids, friends. Nobody had ever expected her to bake the brownies for the bake sale, but she could be counted on to buy the brownies to sell at the bake sale. She was generous so long as you could “find her pocketbook” and was always willing to provide a hot meal cooked at the local restaurant.

Patricia was the constant of her family. The matriarch. She will be sadly missed.

Donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 8pm on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 3534 State Route 55, Kauneonga Lake, NY 12749. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 8pm. Patricia will be laid to rest alongside her husband Dickie at VanKueren Cemetery.
