Paula F. Amaditz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister-in-law, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at her home in Forestburgh.

The daughter of the late Paul C. Forsaith and Mona Rouzer Forsaith, Paula was born October 8, 1946, in Pittsburgh, PA. She was an outstanding student and graduated early from high school to attend Grove City College. There, she met the love of her life, Carl W. Amaditz, and they were married after her graduation. From Pennsylvania, they would move to Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New Jersey before landing in Forestburgh in 1975. Paula taught elementary school before taking time off to raise her two sons, Ken and Mike. After returning to teach at the Rutherford School in Monticello for eight years, Paula became the assistant principal at Benjamin Cosor Elementary School in Fallsburgh, where she served for two years. She then moved to the Middletown School District, where she served as principal at the Academy Avenue Elementary School for four years. After Middletown consolidated several elementary schools, she was named principal of the new Maple Hill Elementary School, where she served for another 15 years, retiring in 2008.

Paula was a woman of many talents and was always deeply involved in her community. When her boys were younger, she led the Town of Forestburgh’s summer arts and crafts program and was a den mother for a local Cub Scout pack. She later served on the Forestburgh Town Council for eight years and was a member of the Town’s Sesquicentennial Celebration Committee. Paula was very active in the First Presbyterian Church of Port Jervis, where she served several terms as an Elder. She was an avid reader and card player, participating with close friends in the same book club for 48 years, and in regular card games with many of those same friends for nearly two decades. Later in life she was passionate about her deck garden filled with tomatoes, peppers, herbs, hanging flower baskets, and bird feeders. She was well known for her dill pickles and looked forward to producing and sharing a new batch each season. More than anything, she loved visiting with her four grandchildren. She was always prepared with fun and creative activities that usually revolved around her kitchen.

Paula is survived by Carl, her husband of 60 years, at home; her two sons: Kenneth C, Amaditz (Mary Hanlon) of Kensington, MD, and Michael P. Amaditz (Jodi Amaditz) of Pacific Grove, CA; four grandchildren: Camille, Hank, Olivia, and Sydney; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at the United Presbyterian and Reformed Church, 60 Sussex Street in Port Jervis. Friends and family will be received from 9:30am, followed by her church service beginning at 11:00am, which will be officiated by her pastor, Rev. Zachary Pearce. Interment of her ashes will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to United Presbyterian and Reformed Church of Port Jervis or a charity of your choosing.
