Pedestrian struck and killed on 17B

WHITE LAKE  — On Friday morning, January 12, at 6:55 a.m., 70-year-old Robert Biondi was struck and killed by a vehicle while leaving the Citgo gas station in White Lake at the intersetion of Pine Grove Roard and 17B.

The lead agency on scene was the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office. According to Undersheriff Eric Chaboty, Biondi was attempting to cross 17B and head back towards Smallwood, where he resided. 

Chaboty said that a 2019 Kia Sorento travelling eastbound on 17B, struck and killed Biondi. He said that the victim was crossing against the light, meaning that the oncoming traffic on 17B had the green light. 

Chaboty said that Biondi was taken to Garnet Catskills and pronounced dead. 

Other details of the incident are still pending as of presstime, Friday January 12.
