It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Peter James Moore, a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle and friend to many. Peter, a longtime resident of Westbrookville, NY, passed at home on September 2, 2026. He was 56.
The youngest child and son of Sally Reutzel Moore and the late Bruce Moore, he was born on September 30, 1969, in Middletown, NY.
A self-employed carpenter, Peter was a 1987 graduate of Pine Bush High School. He married his beloved wife, Jennifer, on October 7, 1994, and was looking forward to their celebrating 32 years of marriage. Giving his time, energy and heart to others was his greatest natural talent. Peter’s big smile could, and did, light up any room and he had an extraordinary sense of humor to match! Peter was multi-talented: an avid outdoorsman, animal lover, excellent cook, baker and vegetable gardener, taking great pride in everything he accomplished. His most cherished gift is how he expressed his love for his wife and family, and he is deeply loved in return.
He is survived by his heartbroken wife: Jennifer, at home; his siblings: Henry Moore (Cherie) of Woodbourne, NY, Paul Moore of Walden, NY, and Kim Fulton (Dave) of Kenoza Lake, NY; his mother: Sally Moore of Wolf Lake, NY; a sister-in-law: Susan Pillius (Scott) of Middletown, NY; his mother-in-law: Jeanne Pillius of Middletown, NY; and many, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, all of whom he loved very much.
Following cremation, a celebration of Peter’s life will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the Anita L. Vandermark Community Center in Walden, NY, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Port Jervis EMS or your local humane society.
