MONTICELLO — The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is inviting the public to an open house on Monday, July 28, to learn more about planned improvements to NYS Route 17 in Sullivan County.
The event will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library, located at 479 Broadway in Monticello.
The open house will focus on two transportation projects aimed at upgrading interchanges and enhancing the Route 17 mainline between Exits 103 and 107. Planned work includes improvements at Exits 103 (Rapp Road), 104 (Monticello), and 107 (Rock Hill), as well as broader enhancements to the highway corridor.
Attendees will have the opportunity to review informational displays and speak directly with NYSDOT representatives, who will be on hand to answer questions, gather feedback, and provide further details on the proposed designs.
“This is a chance for the public to learn about the scope of these improvements and to have their voices heard,” said an NYSDOT spokesperson. “Community input plays an important role in shaping transportation projects like these.”
The open house format allows visitors to drop in at any time during the two-hour window. Comments and questions collected during the event will be added to the official project record. Additional feedback can also be submitted by mail, email, or through the project websites at route17.dot.ny.gov/#/exits-103-104 and route17.dot.ny.gov/#/exit-107.
