NEW YORK — U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro (NY-19) today announced Bailey Carlucci, a third grader at Sullivan West Central School, Thalia Brennan, a fourth grader at Chenango Forks Elementary School, and August Eggena, a fifth grader at Taconic Hill Central School, have been named winners of his New York 19 Writing Competition.

Rep. Molinaro’s writing contest was open to third, fourth, and fifth grade students in New York’s 19th Congressional District. In 400 words or less, the writing prompt asked students: ‘If you were President for a day, what would you do?’

Bailey’s essay focused on ending animal abuse, creating a safe playground for amputees, and promoting unity. Thalia’s writing focused on hosting fun events to bring the local community together, organizing a park clean up, and taking all seniors in nursing homes out for ice cream. As president, August would protect endangered species, build food pantries, and provide service dogs for those who need them.

Rep Molinaro said, “I truly enjoyed reading the creative essays from young students on what they would do as President of the United States. Thank you to all the kids who participated in brainstorming sessions and my competition. There were many bright ideas that would bring our local communities closer together. Congratulations to my writing contest winners Bailey, Thalia, and August!”
