To the editor:

I have yet to make any sense of the $500,000,000 bailout of Resorts Casino.  I keep reading ‘Sullivan County’ is forming an LDC which will offer bonds, and that the taxpayers of Sullivan County have no financial risk here, but Sullivan County exists only  as an entity of the tax payer – there is no such thing as Sullivan County without the residents.  If the bonds don’t sell, or there is a default, who actually is left holding the bag?  Bonds are typically backed and rated by their credit worthiness of the issuers, i.e., the taxpayers of Sullivan County.

I’m confused.  And I feel the Democrat didn’t apply their normal journalistic curiosity to the subject.

Editor’s note: While we appreciate Chuck’s comments and concerns, we must note that nowhere in our reporting did it say that the move will have “no financial risk” to the Sullivan County taxpayers.
