Robert “Bob” Mapes of Monticello passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, at the Care Center at Sunset Lake in Liberty surrounded by family. He was 74.

Bob was born on March 24,1949 in Yonkers, and later graduated from The College of Saint Rose in Albany with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, where he later became employed as a Security Guard. He had a passion for sports cars, boating, racing and being the life of the party.

He is survived by his children: Glenn (Stacy), Bobby (Nancy), Stacey, Joey (Michelle), Andy and Caitlin (Jordan); his grandchildren: Justin (Amanda), Sara, Michael, Dean, Dylan, Haley, Tyler, Stefan, Noah, Joey, Bella, and Violet; a brother Daniel; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Marion Haas Mapes; and siblings Louise Gale, Ellen Price, Patricia Bernhardt and Susan Jahn.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello while a funeral service started at 1:00pm. Burial followed at Mapes Family Cemetery in Monticello.

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to the Care Center Staff at Sunset Lake for their wonderful care of Bob over the last 18 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Monticello Fire Department or to the Monticello Elks Lodge No. 1544.
